I have made a lot of progress on this piece and I think I have a new body of work! I am addressing the issue of gender inequality in the medical field. While there are currently more females in the medical field than males, the majority of these women work as nurses or technicians - in jobs that require less education and less work than physicians and surgeons. In fact, as of 2010, only 34% of surgeons and physicians and surgeons in the United States are women. The title of my piece will be 34%, since it is addressing the statistic.

I am continuing with the piece on the canvas, and I believe it will be an abstract piece. I think I want to address an issue through this piece, but I am not quite sure what it is yet.
We have started working on our next project and Coach wants it to be a continuation of our body of work that we began over the summer, though I'm not sure if I want to continue with the yarn. I believe that the message from those pieces were more personal, and I want my art to be more encompassing and influence more people. Right now, I am playing around with a canvas.
I have started thinking about my first project for this year. I am trying to continue my work from the summer, which works with "interwoven memories". I love working with yarn and found structures, so I will continue with these materials. Here is a picture of my project so far. I found the structure at home in may attic and spray painted it yellow. Now, I am weaving yarn into it. The four sections represent the four stages of life: infancy, childhood, teenage years, and adulthood.
