I loved Sarah Sze's crazy, complex pieces! She uses everyday materials, from found objects to living plants. Her sculptures are whimsical - a trait that I want to adapt in my own work. She is also very experimental, and that carries through in her work.
Coach recommended this artist to me. When I first looked at her work, I thought it was too chaotic to really understand it well. When I looked closer though, she made series of tiny building and attached them to panels around a space. One can literally walk into her work - and I feel like that is a very powerful component of what she's trying to achieve. A close-up of the buildings that she made showed that they looked like the slums of India that were sometimes located near the highway. I really liked her solemn nod to India's poverty while making a beautiful piece of work.
